Finding an Accredited Alexander Practitioner
In Canada, Alexander practitioners (referred to as teachers) are certified by the Canadian Society of Teachers of the F. M. Alexander Technique (CanSTAT).
To receive accreditation, a teacher must undertake a 1,600-hour program in a certified school, completing the program within three to four years.
Most teachers also have extensive experience with private Alexander lessons prior to enrolling in training schools.
Look for the CanSTAT trademark in any advertising you see for an Alexander teacher or school. This is your guarantee that the teacher or school has been certified by CanSTAT. If you don't see the trademark in an ad, check the list of accredited teachers below.
CanSTAT members carry liability insurance and have an established Code of Ethics.
Please feel free to ask any teacher about his or her training. It’s important to be sure you’re dealing with someone who has the proper accreditation.
